Using waterproof tokens.

Recently I was wondering whether it is worth using waterproof tokens. I am often at sites where there is a risk of getting the device wet or even dropping it into water. There was a case when a regular token got caught in the rain, and after that it stopped working. Maybe someone tried using waterproof models? Are they really as reliable as the manufacturers claim?
